Valencia Strong on Sports Tourism

Valencia is growing in the Sporting Calendar creating its place well in the Sports Tourism Market. The Americas Cup was the starting point, holding the most successful challenge in the more than 100 year history of the prestigious sailing event. We are still hoping on the return in February 2010 of the 33rd Americas Cup. Valencia also hit spectacularly in the world of motorsport, already a success with the World MotoGP and now with its custom designed Marina Street Circuit, home to the European Formula 1 Grand Prix. 2009 has seen the first editions of the Equestrian World Championships and just completed the Valencia Open 500 Tennis tournament, won by Britains Andy Murray.
Valencia understands the importance the importance of Sports in the Toursm Industry and is certainly making itself a well respected venue and the place to be!

Visiting the city of Valencia during the month of September is a delight. Temperatures are softened and you can wander without rest and discover the corners of its old town, marvel at the stunning, cutting-edge City of Arts and Sciences, visit the museums or relax in the sun on its long and beautiful beaches. In addition, Valencia Bioparc safari take you to Africa without leaving the city, a spectacular animal habitat gathered in a park that recreated the African Savanna, Madagascar and Equatorial Africa where more than 250 species live.

The weather is gorgeous with clear blue skies and the temperature well into the 30´s. The good news that Renault have had there ban lifted and Fernando Alonso will be racing has helped boost the ticket sales once again.

Seafront Promenade and Valencia City Beaches

For those wishing to experience the true Mediterranean essence, we suggest a relaxing stroll along the Seafront Promenade of Valencia, which links the Patacona to the Malvarrosa and Las Arenas, the City beaches.

The fine sand and warm waters have received the highest environmental awards. The average annual temperature of 19ºC allows visitors to enjoy the beach throughout the entire year whilst sampling the rich variety of typical Valencian dishes on offer at the prestigious local restaurants.

During the summer months the evenings and nights on the seafront come to life. Families and groups culminate to enjoy picnic dinners, drinks and games al fresco all along the promenade, enjoying the warm climate and sea air. A street market also helps to make the whole atmosphere vibrant.

Valencia City of Arts and Sciences

The City of the Arts and Sciences is an essential visit for those travelling to Valencia.
A spectacular collection of some of Europe's most stunning architecture, the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia is fast becoming one of Spain's top touristattractions.

This futuristic "city within a city" must surely rank as one of the world's most exciting and imaginative millennium projects.

The entire complex, designed by Valencias´ own Santiago Calatrava consists of an array of white structures bathed in crystal blue lagoons.

The “City” consists of

Science Museum,
360º Cinema,
Opera House,
Oceanographic (aquarium) and
Umbracle (shaded walkway).

You don't have to be an opera buff or science boffin to enjoy a day out here - in fact if you're on a tight budget you can just wander round this incredible "city"without even buying an entrance ticket. You can walk for more than seven kilometres around the complex or catch the Doto train which also takes you on a tour of the leisurearea of the dried up river bed of the River Turia.
Moreover, the City of the Arts and Sciences has a variety of restaurants on offer as well as thematic shops in the different areas. The L'Oceanografic underwater restaurant, with the walls made up of a great aquarium, is to definately to be seen.
